Homemade Palkova My 50th Post

Palkova oh my God one of my favorite recipe. I used to prepare this from my childhood. So i have lot of experience to prepare this recipe. Humm i have an idea to share this recipe to all of you.

Sure you can try this recipe as per my instruction.

It's very easy to prepare. It will take around nearly 45minutes.

Usually we will buy this recipe in shop. But after reading this recipe, sure you all will prepare in your home itself.

It will give an awesome taste to eat. If you want you can reduce the sugar consistency (If u Prefer).

Palkova is very famous in "Srivilliputhur". It's near by my hometown.

This is my 50th post. Iam very happy to share this recipe with Sweet.


Ingredients:

Milk - 3Cup
Sugar - 6Spoon

Method Of Preparation:





- Keep pan in the gas stove. Pour the milk.









-  Allow this to boil, but not to overflow. Once it starts boiling make the gas into low flame.





- It will be thicker and thicker..








- Color will change into yellowish.The quantity of the milk will be reduce. Now add the sugar and stir continuously. It tries to stick on the pan. Don't allow to stick it in the pan.







- Now Homemade Palkova is ready for serving. You can eat this sweet when it hot and also in cold.







- Yummy to eat. I got this in an awesome way.





Personal Suggestion:


You can try for the below ingredients too.

Milk - 1litre
Sugar - 500gm

Fruit Salad

Fruit Salad is very healthy. We can make this salad as a breakfast or evening snack.


I have prepared this for two people.

Ingredients:


Apple - 1
Orange - 1
Pomegranate -1
Green Grapes - Few
Black Grapes - Few
Papaya - Few
Guava - 1
Banana - 2
Honey - 2tbsp (Optional)
Dates Syrup - 1tbsp (Optional)

Method Of Preparation:


- Wash the fruits well.

- Cut all the fruits into small pieces.

- Put the chopped fruits into a bowl.

- Pour honey and dates syrup.

- Mix well.

-Fruit Salad is ready now.

- If you want you can add icecream together, then it will be yummy to eat.

Coconut Chutney

It goes very well with idli, dosa, puri and kara pongal. It's very simple to prepare.

One of the Quick recipe.

Ingredients:

Shredded Coconut - 1/2 Cup

Ginger - 1Small Piece
Curry Leaves - 4 (Optional)
Green Chilli -2
Salt - To Taste
Water - Few

For Seasoning:

Oil -2 tbsp
Mustard Seeds - 1tbsp
Urad - 1tbsp
Hing - 1tbsp
Curry Leaves -10

Method Of Preparation:

- Take the mixer and put the grated coconut, chilli, curry leaves, ginger and salt.

- Grind it well with the help of water.

- Take it in a bowl.

- Now keep kadai in the gas, pour oil and add mustard seeds, urad, hing and curryleaves. Fry well until it becomes golden brownish color.

- Put the frieded items to the grinded items.



- Coconut Chutney is ready now.

Sweet Kuzhi Paniyaram

Paniyaram is a famous South Indian recipe. You can have this as Snack or Breakfast. We can prepare both Sweet and Sour.

Here i goes with Sweet Paniyaram.

You should have Paniyaran Pan to prepare this recipe.


Ingredients:


Raw Rice - 2 Cup
Boiled Rice - 1Spoon
Urad - 4tbsp
Jaggery - 1 1/2 Cup
Elaichi - 1tbsp
Fenugreek Seeds - 1tbsp
Salt - A Pinch ( To enhance the sweetness)

Method Of Preparation:

- Soak rice, urad and fenugreek for 3 to 4 hours.

- Put it in a grinder.

- Now you can leave for 1 hour.

- Make jaggery into fine powder.

- Keep Kadai in the gas stove. Pour small amount of water and put the jaggery allow this to boil for 5 minutes. Add elachi .

- Now you can pour this to the prepared batter.



- Add a pinch of salt. Mix it well.

- Now the batter is ready.


- Drop oil in each hole one by one and pour the batter. Turn it on both sides to cook well.


- Sweet Paniyaram is ready to eat with Coconut chutney.


- Yummy to Eat.

Kara Kuzhi Paniyaram

Paniyaram is a famous South Indian recipe. We can have this as Snack or Breakfast. Coconut chutney goes very well as a side dish for this paniyaram.

You  should have Kuzhi Paniyaram Pan for the preparation.

Here i goes with "Kara Paniyaram".


Ingredients:


Raw Rice - 2Cup
Boiled Rice - 1spoon
Urad - 4tbsp
Fenugreek Seeds - 1tbsp
Big Onion - 2
Green Chilli - 2
Curry Leaves -10
Hing -1tbp
Mustard seeds - 1tbsp
Bengal Gram - 1tbsp
Urad - 1tbsp
Salt - To taste

Method Of Preparation:

- Soak  rice, urad and fenugreek seeds for 3 to 4 hours.

- Put it in a grinder.

- Now you can leave for 1 hour.

- Keep kadai in the pan, pour the oil and add mustard seeds, urad, hing, curry leaves, Bengal gram, Chilli and onion. Fry well until it becomes golden brownish color.

- Put these to the prepared batter. Add salt and mix it well.



- Now the batter is ready.


- Pour oil to the each hole and drop the prepared batter one by one for each hole. Allow this to cook.


- You should turn on both sides to cook well.


- Now Kara Paniyaram is ready. You can keep it in hot box, so that it will be hot.


- Paniyaram goes very very well with coconut chutney. yummy to eat.

Moong Dal Curry

Dal is a good side dish for chapathi and venn pongal.

Ingredients:

Moong Dal - 1Cup
Big Onion - 1
Tomato -1
Potato -1
Green Chilli - 1
Coriander Leaves - Few
Turmeric Powder -1tbsp
Salt - To Taste
Curry Leaves -10
Hing - 1tbsp
Oil - 3tbsp
Sambar Powder - 1tbsp (Optional)

Method Of Preparation:

- Cut the onion, tomato, green chilli and potato.

- Wash moong dal and potato.

- Keep it aside. Now Keep kadai in the gas stove.  Add oil and put the chopped onion, tomato, chilli, potato and turmeric powder. Fry for a minute. Add water.

- Now put the cleaned moong dal and let it boil. Add salt together.

- When it get half cooked add sambar powder.

- After it get cooked garnish with coriander leaves. Keep it aside.

- Keep kadai in the gas stove. Pour oil and add mustard seeds, hing, curry leaves. Fry well until it becomes golden brownish color.

- Add this to the prepared dal.



- Moond Dal Curry is ready.

Pongal Celebrations


WISHING YOU ALL A HAPPY PONGAL


Pongal is the harvest festival celebrated by our Tamilians. Usually it falls on the month of January 14th. Farmers work throughout the year for paddy and they will pray to "Lord Suriyan and Indran".

Pongal is a four days celebrations, starting with the Bhogi festival involving burning of waste and old materials. It marks the beginning of new life.
We will Prepare "Poli, Vadai and Payasam".

The second day is the Pongal day celebration, we will boil the milk in the pot and we will do sweet pongal for nivedhiyam.

We will decorate the pot with "Turmeric leaf, Kumkum and Sandhanam", and also we will put Kolam infront our house.

Tie the turmeric leaf around the pot.

Nowadays most of them are preparing pongal in cooker. In olden days pongal will be prepared in Sand Pot.

Third is the "Mattu Ponagl" we will decorate the cows and we should thank for the harvest.

The last day is called as "Kanum Pongal". On this day we can enjoy with our family.

Ok Lets see how we are celebrating Pongal and also the preparation Of Pongal.

How to celebrate Pongal:












Celebration Of Bhogi:


- Clean house well. Put Kolam infront of our house.


- Poli is made for Bhogi day and also we will prepare vadai and payasam.

- After the preparation of these item. we will do "Nivedhiyam" to the God.













Celebration Of Kanu Pongal:


Menu for Kanum Pongal is "Variety Rice".

- Lemon Rice
- Puliyodharai
- Coconut Rice
- Payasam
- Vadai
- Applam with vadam


How to Prepare Sarkarrai Pongal:


Sarkarai Pongal is a famous South Indain Recipe.


Ingredients:

Raw Rice - 1Cup
Jaggery - 1/2
Ealichi -Few
Water - 2Cup


Method Of Preparation:

- Keep the kadai in the gas stove. Pour the water and let it cook for 5mintues.

- Now put the rice and let the rice should be cooked completely.

- Now add the ealchi and jaggery. Mix it well.

- Let it boil for 5minutes.

- Sarkarrai Pongal is ready now.

Kara Chutney

It goes very well with Dosa.

Ingredients:

Red Chilli - 10
Samll Onion - 15
Garlic - 5

Salt - To Taste

For Seasoning:

Mustard Seeds - 1tbsp
Urad dal - 1tbsp
Curry Leaves -10
Hing - 1tbsp
Oil - 3tbsp

Method Of Preparation:

- Take 10 small onions and peel the skin. Keep it aside.

- Chop the 5 small onions and keep it aside.

- Now keep pan in the gas stove. Add 2tbsp of oil and fry the garlic, whole onion and red chilli together.

- Let it become cool for 5mintues.

- Take mixer and put the fried items with salt. Grind it well.

- Now keep pan in the gas stove. Add oil, and put mustard seeds, urad, hing, chopped onions and curry leaves.

- Fry well until it becomes golden brownish color.

- Now put the grinded items and fry well for 2mintues.

- Kara Chutney is ready for dosa.

Venn Pongal

Simple Recipe

Ingredients:

Raw Rice - 1 Cup
Moong Dal - 1/2 Cup
Pepper -1tbsp
Jeera - 1tbsp
Green Chilli -1
Turmeric Powder
Ghee - 2-3 tbsp
Curry Leaves - 15
Hing - 1tbsp
Salt - To Taste
Cashewes -Few
Grape - Few

Method Of Preparation:

- Now keep kadai in the gas stove. Pour ghee and add the pepper, jeera and curryleaves. Put these to the cleaned rice.

- Clean rice and moongdal well. Take a vessel and put  rice and moong dal together. Add salt and turmeric powder.

- Keep cooker in the gas stove, in that keep the vessel allow this for 5 whistles.

- After the pressure goes off take the vessel and keep it aside.

- Now keep kadai in the gas stove pour ghee and add cashwes and grape. Fry well until it becomes golden brownish color.


- Venn Pongal is ready now.

Pakarkkai Kuzhambu

Bitter guard kuzhambu is good for health. It will kill the bad germs in the stomache.

So don't avoid "Bitter Guard".


Ingredients:

Big Pakarkkai -2
Garlic - Few
Small Onion - 6-7
Shredded Coconut - 1/2 Cup
Jeera - 1tbsp
Green chilli - 2
Salt -To Taste
Oil - 3tbsp
Fenugreek Seeds - 1tbsp
Mustard Seeds - 1tbsp
Urad - 1tbsp
Tamarind - Few
Turmeric Powder - A pinch
Sambar Powder - 2tbsp

Method Of Preparation:

- Soak tamarind for 15minutes, then extract the tamarind pulp without any dust.

- Peel onion skin. Make onion like two partition. First is take it as whole onion like 5 to 6. Second partition is cut the onion into small pieces.

- Cut the pakarkaai and take it in a plate.

- Grind the coconut, jeera and chilli together. Make a fine paste.

- Now keep kadai in the gas. Pour oil and add whole onion, pakarkkai, garlic and turmeric powder.Fry for a minute.

- Pour tamarind extract. Add salt now.

- Let it boil for 10 minutes.

- After 10minutes put the sambar powder. Allow kuzhambu to boil for another 5minutes, raw smell has to go.

- After 5minutes add the grinded items and let it be boil for another 5mintues.

- Remove kadai in the gas stove.

- Now keep another kadai in the gas stove.

- Add oil and put mustard seeds, urad, fenugreek seeds, curry leaves and chopped onion.

- Fry well until it becomes golden brown color.

-Now add the fried items to prepared kuzhambu. Mix it slightly.



- Pakarkkai Kuzhambu is ready is now.

Pori Urundai

Pori Urundai, Especially we will prepare this for "Thiru Karthigai".

Ingredients:

Pori - 4cups
Jaggery - 1/2
Elaichi - Few
Coconut Piece - Few

Method Of Preparation:

- Make jaggery into fine powder.

- Keep kadai in the gas stove. Pour a little amount of water and put the jaggery together.

- Now we have to take vela pagu. Take jaggery juice and pour it in water, it should not dissolve, we should be able to make it in a rounded ball shape.

- Pagu is ready now.

- Put ealichi, coconut piece and pori together and mix it well.

- Switch Off the gas. Now add  pori and make it in a round shape.


- Pori Urundai is ready for neivedhiyam.

Appam

Appam is very easy to prepare and its very tasty to eat. Usually we will prepare this item for neivedhiyam like "Gokulashtami and Karthigai".

Lets move into the preparation.

Ingredients:

Wheat Flour - 2Cups
Elaichi - Few
Rice Flour - 1tbsp
Jaggery - 1/2
Water - 2Cups
Coconut Piece - Few
Coconut Oil 

Method Of Preparation:

- Make jaggery into fine powder.

- Take a big bowl. Now put wheat flour, rice flour, jaggery, elaichi and coconut piece together.

- Pour water and mix it well without any lumps.

- The batter should not be so watery or it should not be so thick.

- The batter should be medium.

- If you have kuzhi paniyaram kadai, then keep it in a gas stove.

- Now drop oil into the kuzhi and pour the prepared batter.

- Allow this to cook.



- Appam is ready now.

Murukakaai Kuzhambu

Drumstick kuzhambu, its very easy but the procedure is long. 



Ingredients:

Drumstick - 2
Small Onion - 6-7
Shredded Coconut - 1/2 Cup
Jeera - 1tbsp
Green chilli - 2
Salt -To Taste
Oil - 3tbsp
Fenugreek Seeds - 1tbsp
Mustard Seeds - 1tbsp
Urad - 1tbsp
Tamarind - Few
Turmeric Powder - A pinch
Sambar Powder - 2tbsp

Method Of Preparation:

- Now keep kadai in the gas. Pour oil and add whole onion,drumstick and turmeric powder.
Fry for a minute.

- Pour tamarind extract. Put the salt now.

- Let it boil for 10 minutes.

- After 10minutes put sambar powder. Allow kuzhambu to boil for another 5minutes,  raw smell has to go.

- After 5minutes put the grinded items and let it be boil for another 5mintues.

- Remove kadai in the gas stove.

- Now keep another kadai in the gas stove.

- Pour oil and add mustard seeds, urad, fenugreek seeds, curry leaves and chopped onion.

- Fry well until it becomes golden brown color.

-Now put the fried items to the prepared kuzhambu. Mix it slightly.



-Murunkakai Kuzhambu is ready is now.

- Same procedure for all types of kuzhambu like kathirikai kuzhambu, vendaikkai kuzhambu, sepankzhalangu kuzhambu, pakarkaai kuzhambu etc.

- If you want you can add extra veggies like potato and vendaikaai for murunkakaai kuzhambu.

Pal Payasam

Pal Payasam we will prepare this for all types of functions. This is our traditional south indian recipe.Today i made this recipe for "Sai Vrat".

Sai Baba loves sweets. so i have an idea to prepare.

Ingredients:

Semiya - 250g
Milk - 4Cups
Water - 1Cup
Elaichi - Few
Sugar - 2Cups
Rose Essence - 1tbsp (Optional)
Saffron (optional)



Method Of Preparation:

- Keep  kadai in the gas stove. Pour water, allow this to boil for 5mintues.

- Now put sevai and let it be boil for another 5 mintues.

- Mean time boil the milk and take it in a bowl.

- Now come to sevai part. Add sugar and elachi powder. Let it cook for 2minutes.

- Now pour the milk and allow this to cook for 5mintues.

- Atlast fry the cashewes and grapes in ghee. Put these to the prepared payasam.

- If you want to add saffron and rose essence. Add it now.

- Now we can do "Neivedhiyam".



- After finishing  neivedhiyam  "Pal Payasam" prasadham is ready to serve for devotees.
